In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. Romans 8:26. This is going to sound radical but it’s not as radical as you might think. When we pray, the enemy understands our prayers. When the Spirit intercedes, only God knows our prayers. There are many people who say that tongues aren’t for today. How do you pick out what’s for today and what’s not ? It’s all for today. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8. A good friend of mine who has been in ministry over thirty years is the head of a small store front Spirit filled Church. She was hired to be one of three chaplains in a Catholic hospital. The other two chaplains were Roman Catholic priests. What a mix! At a 25 year anniversary celebration for the Protestant chaplain, each of the priests had a chance to speak. The first priest said they knew if they hired her they would have their hands full. And they were right. The second said that he now knew what a God given prayer language was. He used to follow her around the halls praying in ancient greek. He thought she was such a show off. He also was as a student of ancient greek. When he confronted her, he was shocked to find out she didn’t know one word of ancient greek. At that moment he realized she indeed had a God given prayer language !I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you. But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue. 1Cor14:18-19
